I developed a custom water shader using UE’s Single Layer Water Material node, integrating layered noise textures and distance fields to simulate organic water movement. The shader captures realistic ripples, drifting algae, an dynamic wave behavior.

In a final stand to protect the city, the legendary Mecha Shogun faced a colossal Yokai, but despite his strength and resolve, he was ultimately defeated and torn apart amidst the crumbling ruins of the city he vowed to protect. The city lay in ruins, only silence remained with his legacy and memory of a guardian who could not stop the storm.

Collaborating on this team challenge with four talented artists was an incredibly rewarding experience. Over the span of four weeks, we worked together to bring a cohesive and compelling scene to life, combining our individual strengths in design, composition, and storytelling. From initial ideation and photo bashing to the final lighting pass, each phase was a constant dialogue among us and out mentors, sharing feedback, experimenting with techniques, and solving visual challenges. Being surrounded by such thoughtful and skilled collaborators pushed me to refine my own process.
Huge thanks to my team and mentors for their feedback through-out the project.
The scene was strongly inspired by this beautiful concept art:
